Dr. Sergio Royuela received his BS degree in Chemistry and his MS degree in Chemical Science and Technology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. In 2020 he obtained his PhD in Organic and Materials Chemistry from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos under the supervision of Prof. José Luis Segura (UCM) and Prof. Mar Ramos (URJC). During his PhD his research was focused on the synthesis and characterization of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and their post-synthetic modification for tailored applications. Additionally, he developed an intense academic activity, with over 650 hours of teaching, and spent 3 months as a visiting researcher at the National University of Singapore under the supervision of Prof. Kian Ping Loh.
After completing his PhD, and together with Prof. Félix Zamora, he co-founded the spin-off company Porous Inks Technologies, acting as the Chief Technology Officer, and the following year he joined Prof. Zamora’s group at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid as a postdoc. His current research interests are focused on the 3D printing of COFs and MOFs, as well as exploring other methodologies for the processing of porous materials.
