Ignacio Romero-Muñiz obtained his BSc degree in Chemistry in 2016 from the Universidad de Sevilla. During this time Ignacio spent two years at bioorganic laboratory of the Organic Chemistry department, and a third year with a beca de colaboaración, a prestigious scholarship for students with outstanding marks. His work was focused on the synthesis of non-viral vectors for drug delivery. He also did a short-term internship in the Chemical Research Institute of CSIC (IIQ-CSIC) in the organic Chemistry section.
In 2017, he finished his MSc in Organic Chemistry at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with a UCM excelencia máster scholarship. His master thesis in conformationally restricted aminoacids obtained the highest mark of the class. This work was developed at Medicinal Chemistry Institute of CSIC (IQM-CSIC).
After that period Ignacio joined Jannsen the pharmaceutical company as Junior Scientist for almost year. He was working in the design and synthesis of small molecule drugs for the central nervous system in an international and interdisciplinary workgroup.
Currently he is pursuit his PhD at the Autonomous University of Madrid under the supervision of Ana Platero-Prats and Félix Zamora. His research interest is focused on local-structural elucidation by using synchrotron techniques of active sites within covalent- and metal–organic frameworks, and the structure–activity relationship of single-site heterogeneous catalysts with applications in Organic Synthesis, Flow Chemistry of Environmental Sciences.
