David received a Bachelor in Chemistry from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2013, obtaining the Spanish National Award for Excellence in Academic Performance. Afterwards, he completed a MSc in Molecular Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. In 2015 he was awarded an FPU grant from the Spanish Government to pursue his PhD in the group of Prof. Félix Zamora in Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. During his PhD, his interests were the development of new synthetic and processing methods of Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs, a novel type of chemically tuneable porous materials) and the isolation of new 2D materials, namely antimonene.

After successfully defending his PhD by the end of 2018, he joined the group of Dr. Puigmartí-Luis (part of the deMello group) at ETH Zürich as a postdoctoral researcher in January 2019. There, his research was focused on studying the synthesis of 2D COFs and MOFs in microfluidic conditions. In September 2020, with the appointment of Dr. Puigmartí-Luis as an ICREA Professor, he relocated with the ChemInFlow group to Universitat de Barcelona.

In 2021, he rejoined the group of Prof. Félix Zamora as a postdoctoral researcher, applying the acquired knowledge of microfluidics to the processing of COFs.
